HOOD RIVER, Oregon — Overwatch Imaging is pleased to announce the release of ASO 13.0 - the latest version of the flagship Automated Sensor Operator software. The update adds new features and capabilities designed to reduce operator workload, strengthen situational awareness and help airborne crews do more with the sensors they already have.

ASO 13.0 reflects Overwatch Imaging’s commitment to continuously advancing mission-ready sensor autonomy for tactical and time-critical air-to-ground intelligence missions. Each release gives existing customers new capabilities on their deployed systems and offers new agencies and operators a software-driven platform that evolves rapidly with changing mission demands.

ASO 13.0 highlights:

Multipoint Overwatch:

Automated video updates across multiple locations

Maintain awareness of multiple targets or points of interest from a single sensor. With this new video-based feature, ASO tracks multiple points or targets of interest by automatically slewing between locations, refreshing each tile with a burst of live video on every revisit. The feed can be piped into tactical operations centers for real-time viewing and analysis.

Automated revisits give operators refreshed live video of multiple targets or points of interest while eliminating the need to steer the sensor manually.

FireLine: Real-time, AI-driven fire perimeter mapping

An evolution of Overwatch Imaging’s existing fire mapping capabilities, FireLine is a new AI-powered segmentation tool that rapidly generates editable fire perimeters directly in ASO.

FireLine analyzes thermal mosaics produced natively in Overwatch Imaging's user interface to identify active fire and delineate its perimeter. Operators can refine the result in the ASO interface and export it in standard geospatial formats. This gives crews a way to map smaller or emerging incidents and update perimeters between scheduled mapping flights.

A daytime RGB capability, currently in beta, also identifies recently burned areas that may no longer have a strong thermal signature.

Oblique, linear search and detection

This new feature enables the operator to scan a search line parallel to and offset from the aircraft’s flight path. The feature is designed for borders, pipelines, and other linear areas of interest that cannot be flown directly over. The operator draws a line and sets a buffer on either side, and ASO scans the buffered area for full coverage.

High-resolution thermal imagery supports human detection at standoff distances.

Additional Improvements

ASO 13.0 also introduces updates to connectivity, reporting, and everyday operation:

  • AIS Aircraft map layer: Display nearby aircraft on the map using FlightRadar24 data.

  • Expanded Cursor on Target support: Receive Cursor on Target (CoT) messages from secondary gimbals and their Mission Management Systems, in addition to sending CoT messages.

  • Vidterra Compass support: Access ASO video remotely through Compass once configured.

  • Keyboard shortcuts menu: Find available shortcuts and hotkeys directly from the top bar.

  • Screen recording: Record the screen directly from the top bar.

  • Important Detections reports: Generate and download reports from a selected mission in three formats.

  • Pop-out warnings: Warning notifications now appear as pop-out messages.
